SmartThings Setup

Q: How do I set up my Samsung SmartThings?

With the Samsung SmartThings Hub and sensors your home and all your smart devices are connected to make life a little bit easier. Place the Hub in a central location away from other wireless devices. Then connect the SmartThings Hub to power. You’ll also need to download the SmartThings mobile app from Google Play or Apple iOS App Store. Once downloaded create your Samsung account and set your location. From the dashboard tap “Add Device”, select the hub and follow the on-screen guide to connect it. You’ll use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code on the back of the hub. Now you’re ready to connect your things. When setting up any Samsung smart thing make sure the device, you’re connecting is within 15 feet of the hub. Select the “Devices” tab in the SmartThings app then select “Add Device”. Remove the tab marked “Remove when connecting from the sensor.” Complete the set up by scanning the QR code on the back of the sensor and follow the on-screen instructions on the SmartThings app. Set up smart outlets one at a time. Plug the outlet in within 15 feet of the smart hub, add it and complete the setup. Once they are paired with the smart hub you can move your SmartThings where you need them. You can even teach your home some new tricks by setting up “Scenes.” Scenes are routines that control more than one device. Select the devices tab, and then “Add Scene”. Give it a name like “Goodbye.” Now you can add the smart devices you want to control, like lights, thermostats, and locks. When you activate the Goodbye scene, lights turn off, the temperature is adjusted, and the door is locked.
