Now in its eighth year, the Penguin Plunge, presented by Bluegrass Cellular, is returning to raise money for Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana on Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. The goal this year is to raise $15,000 for Junior Achievement’s financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs available to Hardin County students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Penguin Plunge is an annual fundraising event in which brave participants, or “penguins,” fundraise money for the opportunity to jump into a pool of frigid water. This is a community-centered event, attracting many local participants and organizations. Registration for the Penguin Plunge will open at 11 a.m. at Bluegrass Cellular’s Customer Care Center located at 1608 Ring Road.
“Junior Achievement continues to make a huge impact in our local schools, and we are proud to continue our support with the Penguin Plunge,” said Barry Nothstine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bluegrass Cellular. “This fun, energetic event allows the community to literally jump into supporting a great cause.”
Participants are able to fundraise online and request donations to help the Elizabethtown Penguin Plunge reach its goal of $15,000.
The 2019 Penguin Plunge will take place rain or shine at the Bluegrass Cellular 1608 Ring Road location in Elizabethtown. Q: Is mobile banking safe?+ −
Discuss approved applications with your bank before entering any private information. Using your bank’s app will help protect your financial data, and most apps will automatically log you out after a certain amount of time. Be selective of where you conduct your mobile banking. Logging onto a banking website over public Wi-Fi is a security risk. Below are some tips for Mobile Banking users:
1. Set your phone to require a password to power on the handset or wake it from sleep mode.
2. Whether you’re using the mobile Web or a mobile app, don’t allow your phone to automatically log you in to your bank account. This will prevent free access to your money if your phone is lost or stolen.
3. Avoid sharing your password, account number, PIN, answers to secret questions or other such information. Don’t save this information anywhere on your handset.
4. Immediately tell your bank or mobile carrier if you lose your phone.
Although your information is not stored on your mobile device, we recommend you perform a factory reset before recycling or disposing.
